For the past 35 years, residents of Seekonk and surrounding areas have known exactly where to go for delectable homemade ice cream: Uncle Ed’s Front Porch. A tiny, bright blue haven of “super premium happiness,” Uncle Ed’s is located on Route 44 in Rehoboth, MA. That’s right up the street from Herb Chambers Honda Seekonk, so it’s the perfect place to go after car shopping.
After you visit the goats, you can have a seat in the indoor porch and enjoy a cup, cone, or sundae with any one of Uncle Ed’s delicious flavors, which range from old reliables like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, to unique concoctions like Muddy Sneakers and Jimmy Carter’s Peanut Farm. (Hint–we’ve been told it just wouldn’t be summer without Uncle Ed’s lemon ice cream. Try it with a scoop of vanilla in a waffle cone–it’s like a frozen lemon meringue pie!)
Recently, Uncle Ed’s added a new menu that’s chock-full of delicious fried seafood, clam chowder, clam cakes, sandwiches, and other savory goodies. So there you have it–perfect weekend dinner AND dessert! Just one more reason we’re glad to feature Uncle Ed’s as one of our favorite local businesses.
Uncle Ed’s is open from 12-9:30 pm daily for ice cream. Their kitchen serves seafood and other yummy stuff Thursday through Sunday, 12-8 pm. Stop on by for summer fun!
