Re-designed 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is Back and Better than Ever

By 0 Permalink 0

After first releasing the Accord Hybrid in 2014 and 2015, Honda took 2016 to redesign and revamp the model. And boy did it pay off! Even in the base model, like the one I, Honda Laura,  reviewed in my video, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is packed full of features. Always setting the bar, Honda continues to make features like rear-view cameras, bluetooth, and dual-zone climate controls standard equipment on all their vehicles. But what really has people flocking to the Accord Hybrid is the fuel economy. Skip the gas station and keep that cash in your pocket! With fuel ratings as high as 49 MPG, you’ll need fewer fill-ups and can do it with all the style and tech that is totally Honda.

Once again, thanks to Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk for providing this 2017 Accord Hybrid for us to review. Let’s take a look at what’s included in the model:

Exterior Features:

Re-sculpted molding and chrome filled grill and accents

Projector beam halogen headlights

LED daytime running lights, fog lights, taillights, and brake lights

17” Alloy wheels with the turbine design (specific to the Hybrid)

Deck lid spoiler

Tucked in tailpipe (greener and more aerodynamic looking)

Interior Features:

Loads of tools to monitor and maximize driving and fuel efficiency (power monitor, battery use, coaching bar, acceleration/braking gauge)

Honda sensing (road mitigation, lane keeping assist, lane watch, collision mitigated braking, adaptive cruise control)

Dual climate control

Smart entry system with remote start

Spacious backseat with lots of legroom

Bigger trunk (3 extra inches of cargo space!)

Under the Hood:

2.0L 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine with 2 electric motors and a lithium ION battery (one propels the car from a stop, the other is a generator to charge the battery)

Together they produce 212 HP (16 HP more than last generation!)

49 city/47 highway/48 combined MPG

4 vehicle driving modes: electric, hybrid, engine and now sport-mode

While Honda fans have waited an extra year to get a glimpse at a new Accord Hybrid, it was definitely worth the wait. The engineers and designers at Honda have brought us a refined Accord Hybrid model that is strong and super efficient. Added bonuses like the new Sport driving mode, larger trunk capacity, and two electric motors to crank out more power while using less fuel makes this the hybrid to buy.
