Oh, the Places You’ll Go (in your Honda)

By 0 Permalink 0

OK, people. It’s been a long, long winter. Like you, Honda Mama is READY for SPRING and it’s time for some road trips! There’s nothing like dragging your kids away from the Xbox and out into the world for an adventure. Grab some snacks, turn up the music so you can’t hear the whining, and get ready to GO PLACES in your Honda!

Just for giggles, I’ve created a random list of some fun local places to visit. Many of them are only minutes from Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk, right in our local area. Check it out…

Honda Mama’s Spring Road Trip List:

Places to Eat and Shop

We certainly have plenty of shopping and eating in our area, but there’s one place we love where you can do both…Tickle’s! It’s a family-owned gift shop and more, featuring a ton of great local products. You can shop for unique gifts, sit and have a cup of tea in their tea room, or tuck in for lunch or dinner at their beautiful new restaurant, the Aviary. Perfect for an afternoon with the gal pals, or a date night with Honda Dad…Hmm, I think I’ll go book that now. BRB.

Look at these pictures! I feel more Springy already! Yes, the family's last name is actually Tickle, which in itself is a reason to go there!

OK, back to family fun and road trips in the Honda.

Places that are Beautiful (and Educational, to boot!)

Speaking of great family-owned places, Four Town Farm is a 150 acre vegetable farm in Seekonk that opens for the season in April. You can get your fresh veggies and plants, start planning your garden…even PYO crops, come summer! There’s also the Butterfly Zoo in Tiverton, a greenhouse with hundreds of flowering nectar plants and dozens of dazzling, tropical butterflies, which opens in May. (Note: They’re closed on rainy, cloudy, or too-hot days; butterflies are apparently quite picky about weather.)

And you can’t miss Daffodil Days at Blithewold, which is currently running until Sunday, April 26, 2015.

Places to Play

Slater Park is Pawtucket’s largest public park, situated along the Ten Mile River. There, you can visit the dog park, Daggett Farm, the Swan Paddle Boats, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society gallery in the historic boathouse, and the Looff Carousel. Speaking of carousels, don’t forget to check out Crescent Park Carousel (another Looff-built beauty) in Riverside, or, if you don’t mind going a little farther afield, Roger Williams Park (home of the Roger Williams Park Zoo.) Honda Laura even did a video there!

Carousels galore!

Places that are Perfect for Bribing your Kids

Yes, there comes a day when the kids just beat us down and we give in and let them have what they want…bright lights, loud music, and fun, fun, FUN! Right here in Seekonk, we have FantasyLand, and nearby in East Providence there’s United Skates of America and Sky Zone. Three places that guarantee hours of fun, and perhaps (after you get home with a minivan full of sufficiently tired kids) hours of quiet.

Last spring and summer, our road trips included jaunts to car showsAllie’s Donuts, the Book Barn, the local drive-in, and Sesame Place.  We’re going to do even more fun road trips this year! Comment below and tell us…where are YOU going in your Honda this Spring?
