Providence RI Day Trip with Honda Mama

By 0 Permalink 0

There’s nothing like a spring road trip to shake off the winter like a heavy blanket. After a weird winter and snow in April (seriously!) I was ready for a family day trip. Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk is close to some great cities like Boston and Providence, so taking a road trip in your Honda is easy and fun! I grabbed my best friend and we all piled into her Honda Odyssey and hit the road. We chose Providence because it’s close to us and there are so many hidden gems to explore.

First, we went to the RISD museum. Yes, we took our kids to an art museum. Our little savages needed a sprinkling of culture after several months of being stuck indoors on their Kindles and iPods. We kept our visit brief and fun, and the kids really enjoyed looking at the art. They also behaved themselves quite well, because we began our museum visit with a short speech that combined dire threats of dungeons in case of misbehavior and the promise of treats and playgrounds afterward.

After our museum excursion, we walked around the city, taking in the sights. Providence is a nice size city to walk around with kids. Although even with a smaller city, little legs get tired, so we stayed in the area surrounding Brown University for this day trip. There were lots of cool statues and sculptures to view.

All in all, we had a lovely day in Providence and we’re already planning our next day trip. What’s your favorite place for a day trip with kids?
