I’m so excited I can barely stand it. The Civic Hatchback is back! It’s been over a decade since Honda released a Civic model with a hatchback. And today I, Honda Laura, get to show you everything I love about the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback EX-L Navi model in this video review. To be honest, I love this car so much I’m already pricing out options for when the lease on my CRV is up.
This highly anticipated 10th generation Civic design is super close to what we saw in the prototype concepts, which is awesome. The center-rear chrome exhaust is the only design feature we have to wait until early 2017 to get (it will be the Touring Sport model.) Otherwise, there’s so much to love about the new Civic. This review shows you an all-black version (can it get any cooler?) that our good friends at Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk provided for us. Here’s what you get:
Blacked-out, re-sculpted bodywork with vents on the grill and back bumper
LED Daytime running and fog lights
17” Blacked-out wheels
Smart entry-system and remote start
Lane Watch™ and back-up camera
Tailgate spoiler on the large hatch
High-res gauge cluster, with turn-by-turn instructions on the screen
Leather wrapped steering wheel with new layout design
Display audio system with Garmin navigation and voice commands
Tons of storage space
Electronic brake hold and parking brake systems
Tweeter speakers in the back seat doors
46.2 cubic feet of cargo space (with the back seats folded down)
Unobstructed rear view window
Under the Hood:
1.5L turbocharged, direct fuel-injection engine with 174 HP
CVT automatic transmission
31 city/40 highway/34 combined MPG
The 2017 Civic Hatchback EX-L Navi is a home run. No other way to put it. As a die-hard Honda fan–they don’t call me Honda Laura for nothing–I’ll admit there have been Civic models I didn’t love. That is not the case here. Honda stayed true to their concepts, and they hit it out of the park.
Between the blacked-out styling, new molding and grill work, the redesigned steering wheel and instrument clusters, to all the tech highlights like LaneWatch™, the Garmin navigation system, and voice commands, I love everything about this car. And it’s a hatchback. Hatchbacks are amazing. The flexibility for storage and using the Civic to haul your kids and stuff, means it’s about time we saw it back on the Honda lots.
So don’t wait to check one out for yourself. The EX-L Navi shown today has a MSRP of $25,300, but my friends at Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk have all the Civic Hatchback models available. Celebrate the return of the Civic Hatchback with me and comment below about what you’re most excited about with the new design.
