Happy Honda Days with all your Childhood Toys!

So, yesterday, while crazy many people were up at the crack of dawn for Black Friday shopping, I was home watching TV with my kiddoes. I got up to fix a snack and a Happy Honda Days commercial came on:

Immediately, from the next room, at top volume, I heard:

I grew up watching all the adventures of Jem and her Holograms and those dastardly Misfits with my sisters. Now my daughter and I watch the re-runs together and she knows ALL the words to the theme song. Yes! I am a child of the 80s, and if you are, too, then you’re going to love all of the new Honda Days commercials. It’s a toy lineup from our childhood!

We have Gumby and Pokey (which I remember because my dad shared his own memories of them with me, trying to “help me appreciate” the 50s and 60s they way I try to “help my kids appreciate” the 70s and 80s.)

Skeletor is there, in all his eeeee-vil glory, ready to crrrrrush He-Man!

We also have Strawberry Shortcake (another favorite toy I’ve managed to get my daughter interested in)…remember that sweet berry smell that pervaded your playroom, your closet, and your entire childhood world? Unless your Easy Bake Oven was on, in which case all you could smell was flour, sugar, and artificial flavors mixed with water, burning to a disgusting delicious crisp under a lightbulb.

Who could forget all those Little People and their play sets? If you grew up in the 80s and didn’t have a Little People farm complete with a barn door that went “MOO!”  then I don’t even know what to say except that I pity you and the big hole in your heart. Your childhood was incomplete.

And for all you tough guys out there, we have Stretch Armstrong! (We also have GI Joe, who makes an appearance in the first commercial I mentioned, only to be shot down by by Jem, because she is truly outrageous.)

I got such a kick out of these commercials! Nothing like a trip down memory lane. Happy Honda Days, hope you enjoy them, too!
