Already setting records with the number of entries this year, the 2017 Sports Car Club of America National Championship Runoffs® at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is looking to be the biggest and best ever since the event commenced back in 1964.
Live Highlights from the Record-Setting Event
Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk is excited to bring you highlights and all the Honda racing action live from the track! The weeklong event kicks off on Saturday, September 23 and culminates with three days of non-stop, wheel-to-wheel racing, across the 28 national classes Friday-Sunday, September 29 to October 1.
Drivers from throughout the Northeast, including competitors from our local areas in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, will travel west to Indiana to compete in this one-race, winner-take-all, premier amateur road racing competition to claim the title of National Champion. And for the first time, SCCA competitors will be turning wheels on the famed Brickyard to do it (check out a video of the course!)

According to SCCA, “The winner-take-all National Championship Runoffs® will consist of 19-lap or 40-minute races on a 15-turn, 2.592-mile road course at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The course layout consists of ten right-hand and five left-hand turns, as well as a main straight 3,700 feet in length. The configuration includes portions of the track previously utilized by Formula One for the U.S. Grand Prix and currently used by the Verizon IndyCar Series for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis.”
Racing fans can follow us on Twitter for photos, event updates, and results throughout the week. Honda Performance Development will also be there hosting Honda events, offering technical assistance, and awarding contingency prizes as well.
We look forward to cheering on our local drivers as they take to the blacktop and watching all the action unfold. The excitement is already brewing and we’re still a week away! Join us online as we capture all the fun, the highs and the lows, as the best of the best in amateur road racing compete at Indy!
